Waiting for an answer is hard!
Have you ever prayed about something and waited to hear God’s answer?
What about praying for a circumstance to change?
Sometimes when we pray, we hear God’s answer right away. Other times, not so much.
That waiting period seems like the three dots we use to create suspense.
Part of my story includes a waiting period I thought would never end.
At the age of 20, I was told I had a 50% chance of conceiving a child, and the possibilities only dwindled each year after that.
During this time, my husband and I were in no position to start a family as we were trying to get on our feet.
Devastated at this news, I wanted to hurry up and get in the position to start having children.
Little did we know it would take 2 years.
At 22 years old, I was ready to start trying to have a child. Negative pregnancy test after negative pregnancy test, I began to feel hopeless.
That year, our church hosted a Unity service; at that service, I went to the altar to pray.
I was praying God would heal the constant back pain that riddled me for years with no end in sight.
Suddenly, I felt a tiny pop in my back. And from that moment on, the pain that bothered me for years instantly vanished.
Not only did I hear from God right away, but that night He told me I was going to have a baby and I would name her Hannah.
Thrilled at my healing and excellent news from God, I left hopeful!
Of course, I expected to get pregnant instantly, but I didn’t.
After more devastation from negative pregnancy tests, a reproductive surgery, and a whole year later…I finally saw that pink plus sign on my pregnancy test!
I said all this to encourage you to never give up on God.
I know firsthand how hard it is to wait.
In fact, I’m currently in a waiting period!
Sometimes God will work instantly. Other times He puts us through the test of waiting.
“For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
– Jeremiah 29:11 AMP
“Many plans are in a man’s mind, But it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand (be carried out).”
– Proverbs 19:21 AMP
These verses show us that God’s plans are good and will come to pass. We just have to let Him work.
Sometimes we expect what we want to come immediately, but God’s timing is perfect!
If you are finding yourself in a waiting period today, be encouraged! God has great plans for you!
