You Can Do This

Have you ever had one of those moments where you told yourself, “I can’t do this”?

Well, for those of you who have (myself included), this is for you.

Life is everchanging. With these changes come heartbreak, pain, and good old trials.

It’s so tempting to give up when life gets tough. We take our time to grieve, to question God, and to be angry. After it’s all said and done, we question if we’re strong enough to push through the struggle.

Guess what? You’re not. I’m not. No one on this planet is strong enough to get through things on their own. We weren’t created to rely on ourselves (not on our own that it is). Nor were we created to have everything go our way all the time.

Now, hear me out.

God created us for His glory. Which means we need to rely on Him. We need to call on Him. And we need to seek guidance and strength from Him. The reality is that we will have trials in this life, and we aren’t strong enough to endure the storm without the Lord.

God is my strength and power, And He makes my way perfect.

II Samuel 22:33 NKJV

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation…

Psalm 18:2 NKJV

WITH GOD, we are strong enough. Even if we don’t call on God, He still loves us so much and shows mercy and grace during times of struggle. We look back and question how we ever got through it. The answer is God. He has overcome the world because of His ultimate sacrifice. He is there for us in times of need and He’s waiting for us to call on Him, to lean on Him.

In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

John 16:33 NKJV

God gives us hope when he reminds us to “be of good cheer” because He has taken care of it all. It may not seem like it in the moment, but God knows what He’s doing.

For me, I will look back on certain times of my life when I completely shut down. Riddled with fear and anxiety and pain. Moments where I questioned how I would ever get back on my feet. Or even moments where I just felt so worn down and tired that I didn’t know how I would have enough energy for the next day, let alone the next however many years. But then that sweet reminder would come. The reminder of all Jesus did for me. The reminder that He was looking out for me and He had a plan.

I look at my life today and see God’s hand in it all. From struggling in my walk with God to now drawing closer and getting to know more about Him. From having a hard time conceiving to now being a mother of two beautiful daughters. From struggling with acceptance from others to having the strength and courage to be different and stand up for myself. And the list goes on.

None of this was by my own doing. I credit it all to God. I wasn’t strong enough without Him. He used every circumstance to draw me closer to Him and to His purpose for my life.

Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.

John 16:22 NKJV

…Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

Psalm 30:5 NKJV

No matter what you’re going through today, the Lord is calling you to Him. Draw near to Him. He will help you.

And if no one else has told you yet: You can do this!
