“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
- Hebrews 13:8 NKJV
It’s been quite a while since I’ve felt led to write my next blog post and I must say, it’s nice to hear that calling today.
My blog posts are inspired by things I have gone through and the words the Lord has brought to my attention. Today’s blog post is no different.
Since my last blog post, I have struggled with anger and questioning the Lord about my heartbreak and suffering. Though I know God does not owe me anything, it doesn’t stop the pain of loss.
Nevertheless, God has brought people into my life who have shared verses, songs, and encouraging words to remind me that He is with me.
One day, a friend shared a song with me during a period of questioning that caught my attention.
The song was about the Lord being constant, even during times when we feel like we are struggling the most. It was at that moment that the peace of God washed over me.
I thought about how comforting it is to know that Jesus is immutable. He is the unchanging and constant.
Change can be difficult. At least it is for me. I tend to fear the unknown because I cannot prepare for it. Or maybe I can to some degree, but things can change in a split second.
Have you ever felt that way? Have you ever feared the unknown or change?
Unfortunately, I can say that this fear has inhibited me from accepting a life full of joy and peace.
However, the Word of God is full of truth and has helped me experience just a taste of the joy and peace He wants us all to experience in abundance.
The truth that Jesus is constant and unchanging is extremely comforting.
Why?
We never have to doubt that God’s promises will remain, just as they have for thousands of years.
Here are a few that have brought me comfort during some of my hardest moments :
- He is always with us.
“…For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.””
- Hebrews 13:5 NKJV
- He offers us His peace.
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
- John 14:27 NKJV
- He does not give us fear.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
- II Timothy 1:7 NKJV
- He loves us and has sacrificed His Son so that we may have life.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
- John 3:16 NKJV
- Joy will come. His favor is everlasting.
“For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.”
– Psalms 30:5 NKJV
- He is our helper and protector.
“Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.”
- Psalms 33:20 NKJV
- He was given to us.
“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
- Isaiah 9:6 NKJV
- He is our Redeemer.
“As for our Redeemer, the Lord of hosts is His name, The Holy One of Israel.”
- Isaiah 47:4 NKJV
I hope these verses comfort you today as they have comforted me.
Jesus is our peace, joy, strength, redeemer, helper, and protector. He was given to us and will never leave us!
There is great comfort to be found in our constant Lord and Savior!
I challenge you to anchor yourself and your faith in His truth today. Find a verse or a handful of verses that help you remember that Jesus Is with you always and He is the way, the truth, and the life.
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
– John 14:6 NKJV
