“No one has greater love [nor stronger commitment] than to lay down his own life for his friends.”
John 15:13 AMP
Can you imagine being in a situation facing death, and a friend came to your rescue by taking your place?
As parents and spouses, we know we would do anything for our loved ones. We say, “I’ll step before a moving train to save your life” or “I’d do anything for you”.
These things can be true. But could we imagine doing this for those who hate us?
I’ll be the first to say that I couldn’t. I couldn’t imagine sacrificing my life for someone that hated me – Someone that abused me or tormented me.
Or how about this: Could you imagine sacrificing your loved one for your enemies?
Again, I couldn’t. Most, if not, all of us would do anything to save our loved ones over our enemies.
We think to ourselves, “Why on earth would I ever sacrifice myself or my loved ones for my tormentors? Who in their right mind would do such a thing“?
God did.
God sent His Son, Jesus (Himself in the flesh) to save everyone who is, has been, and will be.
” For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
John 3:16 AMP
Let’s take a moment to let that sink in.
Someone (God) loves us so much that He sacrificed His life to save and free us – ALL of us! Believers and unbelievers alike.
And guess what? People have hated Him since the beginning of time, yet He still did it!
There is truly no love that is greater than God’s love for us.
As believers, we have been called to show others Christ’s love. For some, this is the only love that they may know.
“You are God’s children whom he loves. So try to be like God. Live a life of love. Love other people just as Christ loved us. Christ gave himself for us – he was a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice to God. “
Ephesians 5:2 ICB
“This is love: He loved us long before we loved him. It was his love, not ours. He proved it by sending his Son to be the pleasing sacrificial offering to take away our sins.”
1 John 4:10 TPT
On this Valentine’s Day, I hope you feel loved. Not only by those you are surrounded by but by the One that is always with you.
And if you feel unloved, remember that God loves you – always and forever.
“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”
1 John 4:8 NKJV
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Profoundly true.
